Three Rondavels History

The Three Rondavels Mpumalanga are a great place to visit on your trip to South Africa’s Blyde River Canyon. They are located at the very beginning of the Panorama Route, near Graskop and can be reached by driving down from either Pretoria or Johannesburg.

The Three Rondavels Mpumalanga is a group of three domed rock formations along the Panorama Route in Mpumalanga, South Africa. These formations are named for their resemblance to the traditional conical huts of African natives. They are found in the Blyde River Canyon, between Graskop and Hazyview, with the highest point above sea level. The Three Rondavels, which were formed by erosion, are one of South Africa’s natural wonders and one of its most popular tourist attractions.

Three Rondavels Directions

Not sure about the three rondavels directions? There are several directions to choose from when it comes to visiting Three Rondavels in Graskop. If you’re driving north on the N12 toward Witbank/Beira, turn left onto the R40 as you enter Graskop. Stay on that road until you reach the White River, where a sign will indicate an upcoming left turn. Take this turn and follow it for about five minutes until you reach White River.

If you are driving south on the N4 toward Nelspruit, take the left-hand turn (the first one) into White River and follow it to White River. The road is well signposted, well maintained and safe to drive on.

The Three Rondavels View Point is a perfect place to see the three rondavels. The Three Rondavels Mpumalanga are one of South Africa’s best-known landmarks and a favorite subject for photographers. The best view in the whole of the Blyde River Canyon is of the “Three Rondavels. The road up to the View Point was extraordinarily scenic. The surrounding area is fairly busy with tourists, as it’s also a popular hiking and camping spot.
