The Valley of Waves Sun City is one of the major attractions at Sun City Resort. It offers a beach-like experience with a massive wave pool, numerous slides, and other fun water activities. Here is all that you need to know before you visit the Valley of Waves in the North West province of South Africa.

Valley of Waves Sun City

Temple of Courage Sun City

The Temple of Courage is a near-vertical slide that drops its riders from a height of about 17 meters (approximately 56 feet). It’s not just the height that’s impressive, but the sheer angle of the drop which ensures a heart-racing experience for those who dare to take the plunge,

Riders climb to the top of a stone-clad tower (mimicking a temple), where they are met with panoramic views of the Valley of Waves and parts of Sun City Resort. From there, they step onto the slide, and within seconds, they are propelled down the chute at high speeds, finally splashing into a cool pool below. The ride, although brief, delivers a pure rush of adrenaline.

Roaring Lagoon Sun City

The Roaring Lagoon is a large, palm-fringed wave pool that simulates the ocean experience. Its turquoise waters and sandy shores create the feeling of being on a tropical beach, set amidst the backdrop of South Africa’s inland terrain.

One of the most remarkable features of the Roaring Lagoon is its hydraulic wave-generating mechanism. Every few minutes, the pool generates waves that can reach up to 1.8 meters in height, replicating the high swells of the ocean. This unique feature is what gives the Roaring Lagoon its name and appeal.

Being the main attraction of the Valley of Waves, the Roaring Lagoon is easily accessible from any part of Sun City. There are clear signages and pathways leading to it from different sections of the resort.

Lazy River Sun City

The Lazy River, as its name suggests, is a slow-moving water channel that winds its way around a portion of the Valley of Waves. It’s designed for guests to relax and leisurely float on inflatable tubes as they are carried along by the gentle current.

Guests can grab an inflatable tube, available at the entrance of the river, and let the calm waters carry them through lush landscapes, under bridges, and past water features. The journey offers a serene way to enjoy the park’s scenery and provides a break from the more intense attractions.
